A céilí featuring All-Ireland button accordionist John Whelan and the Northeast Regional All-Star Céilí Band will be the highlight of the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Annual Northeast Regional Meeting on November 7 at the Irish American Home Society, 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT, 6:30 – 10 pm. The céilí, a popular form of folk dancing in Ireland, is open to the public. The cost is $15 at the door and $5 for “toe tappers,” or non-dancers.  All students with a school ID can attend for free. Contact Tim at 203-257-8737 for information.

The meeting and céilí are hosted jointly by the Hartford area Burke Curry Seery Comhaltas branch and the P.V. O'Donnell Comhaltas branch from Milford. Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was founded in 1951 in Ireland to promote Irish traditional music, song, dance and language. Today there are 415 branches worldwide and over two million people attend Comhaltas functions each year.
