Irish American Home Society House Rules

1) Membership cards are issued by the Irish American Home Society (IAHS) for the exclusive use of the Member named thereon and remain the property of the IAHS. They may not be loaned or reproduced.

2) Any individual whose membership privileges have been suspended, or who has been expelled from the Irish American Home Society, must return his/her membership card to the President or the President’s designee within ten (10) days of being notified of such suspension or expulsion. Failure to comply with this requirement without good cause may result in permanent expulsion. The House Committee will determine what constitutes “good cause”.

a. During any period of suspension or expulsion, the individual involved may not exercise the rights and/or privileges of membership. 1) Nor may they participate in any activities in the club or on the field as guest. A suspended or expelled member may appeal to the house committee for extenuating circumstances such as a family member’s funeral or wedding. Exceptions for special events will be at the discretion of the House Committee.

b. Members may invite guests into the card entry-controlled area (Bar and Lounge), subject to the following conditions: “Guest” is defined as any individual who is not a current member, including children. All guests 21 years and older must register in the Guest Book and be signed in by the Member, who guests they are; Members hosting guests are responsible for their behavior and actions and Guests must leave the card entry-controlled area before or with the member who signed the Guest in.

3) Subject to the discretion of the House Committee, a Member may be held financially responsible for any damage caused by himself/herself and/or any of his/her guests.

4) Members and/or their guests may not engage in any of the following behaviors and/or actions on the Irish American Home Society property including, but not limited to, any meeting on property:

a. Vulgar, profane, indecent, threatening, intimidating, or abusive language or verbal harassment based on race; age; sex; sexual orientation; gender identity; religion; and/or marital or family status.

b. Fighting or physical violence of an aggressive nature.

c. Annoying and/or unreasonable noise, which is disruptive to other Members to the point where they complain.

d. Creating or facilitating the creation of hazardous or offensive situations or conditions.

e. Evidence of Cyber Bullying of any member by another member.

f. No use or possession of illegal drugs on IAHS property.

g. Retaliation or Harassment against any member who files a complaint with the House Committee; Board members; IAHS officers; and/or any Committee member, and/or any family member of the aforementioned.

h. No use of any recording materials during any membership meeting.

i. No firearms or lethal weapons on IAHS property.

j. No filing of frivolous complaints intended to harass or embarrass a member.

It shall be the responsibility of the offending Member or the sponsoring Member of an offending guest to see that behaviors or actions referred to in Section 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f, 4g, 4h, 4i, 4j cease immediately upon the matter being brought to the Member’s attention. Failure to comply with this Section may result in those involved being asked to leave the IAHS premises and initiation of disciplinary action against the responsible Member(s) by the House Committee.

  • Only alcohol and soda purchased from the Irish American Home Society may be consumed on IAHS premises.
  • No smoking within the IAHS Club building.
